Apps built on Nitro can leverage the powerful Solana execution environment while gaining IBC interoperability. Developers can deploy existing Solana smart contracts while users can seamlessly access these apps with common Solana wallets. Nitro is running the Solana VM as an optimistic rollup on Sei, a Layer 1 in Cosmos that is IBC and ICA (Interchain Accounts) enabled. This architecture allows Solana apps to easily expand to Cosmos and access IBC assets.
Nitro block production is managed through a sequencer akin to Optimism and Arbitrum which will enable instant transaction confirmation. Afterwards, batched transactions are submitted to Sei. Verifiers can submit fraud proofs to Sei, which will ensure that the state changes are valid.
Here are some elementary use cases for Nitro SVM:
Decentralized Exchanges: Traditional AMMs, Orderbook DEXs & Stableswaps that leverage Solana VM capabilities for IBC assets
High Performance Gaming: unlock real-time gaming with instant transaction confirmation, faster than any chain
NFT Financial Products: Beyond just an NFT marketplace, enable rapid NFT trading, derivatives, and lending
Lending: Lending protocols and markets that utilize Solana & IBC assets
Asset Management: An asset management app that manages open positions across Solana and Cosmos DeFi apps
